Determination of Absolute Permeability through Simulations
Besides the porosity of a rock, permeability is the most important property when it comes to classifying an underground reservoir. The potential for development and usability of a reservoir can already be accurately estimated if these values are known.
Due to the increasing importance of an accurate – but economically viable -determination of absolute permeability in rocks and structures, it is essential to be able to predict the exact permeability properties through simulations. In doing so, resources can be used effectively and economically by using digital simulations instead of experiments, which would require significantly more money and time. Therefore, in a Digital Rock Physics environment, it is important that results can be provided both quickly and accurately.
