Experimental setup and material parameters: The oil passes through the pleated filter with a flow rate of 4 l/min. The filter has a surface area of about 280 cm², so the average superficial flow velocity in the filter media is therefore ~2.4 mm/s. Thus, flow in the filter media is slow. The test reservoir volume is initially clean and contains 6 l. The injection reservoir volume contains 29 l which contain 11 g of the test dust. 25 ml are discharged per minute on the upstream and downstream side of the filter. |
- In the Flow Settings panel on the bottom right, change the Flow Motion to Creeping flow (Stokes-Brinkman). Select as Inflow Material ID (ID 06) and Outflow Material IDs (ID 07).
- Select Multi Pass test – ISO 16889 Standard as Experiment Setup. In the diagram, adjust the pump flow rate to 4 l/min and leave the other parameters as the defaults shown below:
- In the Simulation Stopping Criterion panel. select Max. time reached, and set a time of 10 minutes.
