GeoDict User Guide 2025

Import and Quality Control of a Cathode Material

The starting point of digital battery design is to import a 3D scan of your material with ImportGeo-Vol and perform a quality control of the scan. Afterward, apply the needed post-processing and segment the scan. This example tutorial illustrates how to validate the quality, apply image filters and then import and segment a 3D scan of a granular material with GeoDict.

It is the first part of the Digital Battery Design tutorial series:

  1. Import and Quality Control of a Cathode Material: This tutorial guides you along the steps to analyze, post-process and finally segment a 3D-scan of an NMC-cathode.
  2. Standardized Microstructure Analysis of a Cathode Material: This tutorial shows how to analyze the segmented scan regarding transport properties and pore size distribution.
  3. Building a Statistical Digital Twin of a Cathode Material: In this tutorial a statistical digital twin is built and validated using the results from the second part of this tutorial series.
  4. Digital Battery Charging Learn how to analyze the charging behavior of a digital battery consisting of bimodal electrodes.
