Characterization of Microstructures by Combining Multiscale & Multi-Resolution Images
Abstract
Digital rock physics using scanned images can offer detailed insights into the pore structures and physical properties of rocks, which are crucial for various applications. Scans at multiple scales, ranging from about 1 mm to 3 cm, and at multiple resolutions, from approximately 25 nanometers to 30 micrometers, have been performed to achieve high resolution and at the same time, to cover a larger scanned area. Integrating properties across different scales and resolutions presents challenges. This poster discusses averaging and combining techniques such as arithmetical, geometric, and harmonic averaging. It also includes a comparison with properties estimated from well logs.
