Advanced Modeling of Multilayer Laminate Composites

GeoApp: LamiGeo

Accurate modeling of multilayer laminate microstructures is essential for reliably predicting mechanical performance and accelerating material design. GeoDict enables the creation of realistic digital microstructures from parametric inputs and connects them to advanced simulation tools, such as the ElastoDict module, for structural analysis and effective property evaluation.

The LamiGeo GeoApp, part of the Composites module, automates the generation of customizable laminate composites. It allows engineers and researchers to rapidly build fiber-reinforced microstructures with precise control over layer architecture, material properties, and geometric parameters.

LamiGeo generates voxel-based 3D models that capture key microstructural features, including fiber curvature and coatings. This high level of detail enhances model fidelity and leads to more reliable and predictive simulation results.

GeoApp Features

  • Define number of fiber layers, layer height, and layer angles
  • Choose fiber diameter and fiber solid volume percentage within the layers.
  • Extensive selection (database) for matrix and fiber materials.
  • Realistic enhancements such as fiber waviness, overlap removal, and fiber layer coating
  • Overlap-free fiber placement with optional isolation distance.
