Fibrous materials consist of complex, three-dimensional networks characterized by variations in fiber orientation, diameter, and spatial distribution. These structural characteristics strongly influence material properties and performance, but conventional measurement methods often provide only a partial understanding of the underlying microstructural complexity.
Developing and testing new material configurations can also be time-consuming and costly, as changes in composition or manufacturing parameters often require additional physical samples and experiments.
Digital twins offer an alternative approach. By creating virtual representations of fibrous microstructures it becomes possible to analyze structural characteristics, investigate material behavior, and explore design variations without relying exclusively on physical testing.
GeoDict combines 3D image processing, quantitative microstructural analysis, material modeling, and simulation in a single software environment. It allows structural information obtained from real materials to be used for generating digital twins and investigating how changes in fiber arrangement and structural parameters affect performance.
During this online seminar, you will learn how to:
- Characterize fiber orientation, diameter distributions, and other structural properties.
- Apply two different approaches to generate digital twins based on the analyzed microstructure.
- Use the generated digital twin for further structural analysis and material studies.
