This facilitates the wider dissemination of knowledge and information related to the conference topics and promotes the exchange of ideas and expertise within the scientific and professional community.

Data Retention Period

To the extent necessary, we process and store your personal data for the duration of our business relationship and for the fulfillment of contractual purposes. This includes, among other things, activities related to the initiation and performance of a contract.

In addition, we are subject to various statutory retention and documentation obligations arising, among other sources, from the German Commercial Code (Handelsgesetzbuch, HGB) and the German Fiscal Code (Abgabenordnung, AO). The retention and documentation periods prescribed therein range from two to ten years.

Finally, the retention period is also determined by applicable statutory limitation periods, which, pursuant to Sections 195 et seq. of the German Civil Code (Bürgerliches Gesetztbuch, BGB), are generally three years but may, in certain cases, extend to up to thirty years.

Your Rights

Every data subject has the right of access pursuant to Article 15 of the GDPR, the right to rectification pursuant to Article 16 of the GDPR, the right to erasure pursuant to Article 17 of the GDPR, the right to restriction of processing pursuant Article 18 of the GDPR, the right to notification pursuant to Article 19 of the GDPR, and the right to data portability pursuant to Article 20 of the GDPR.

In addition, you have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority pursuant to Article 77 of the GDPR if you believe that the processing of your personal data is not lawful. This right to lodge a complaint is without prejudice to any other administrative or judicial remedy.

Where the processing of your data is based on your consent, you are entitled, pursuant to Article 7 of the GDPR, to withdraw your consent to the use of your personal data at any time. Please note that the withdrawal of consent is effective only for the future. Processing carried out prior to the withdrawal of consent remains unaffected. Please also note that we may be required to retain certain data for a specific period in order to comply with legal obligations.

Right to Object

Requirement to Provide Personal Data

However, we can only make decisions in connection with contractual measures if you provide the personal data that is necessary for the conclusion and performance of a contract or for the implementation of pre-contractual measures.

Automated Decision-Making

As a general rule, we do not use fully automated decision-making pursuant to Article 22 of the GDPR for the establishment, performance, or administration of a business relationship, or for pre-contractual measures.
