Digital Rock Physics and Analysis Breakout Session
In this session, we explore the latest developments and applications in digital rock analysis. Starting with an introduction to the field, the program provides an overview of the GeoDict roadmap and presents new capabilities for digital rock characterization, modeling, and simulation.
Case studies from experts in the field demonstrate how digital rock methods are being applied to a diverse range of research questions. Topics include the combination of µCT imaging and digital registration to investigate wormhole formation during carbonate acidification, the transport processes and microbial controls involved in subsurface hydrogen methanation, and the application of GeoDict to sea-ice geophysics and engineering.
Together, these presentations show how imaging, experimental methods, and numerical simulation can be combined to investigate complex processes in porous materials, from subsurface rocks to ice cores.
