Modeling and Property Prediction of lattice-based Structures and triply Periodic minimal Surfaces
Seminar recording
Additive manufacturing processes – better known as 3D printing – such as selective laser sintering (SLS), selective laser melting (SLM), stereolithography, and binder jetting are opening up new possibilities for the production of prototypes and components. They offer design freedom in component development that cannot be achieved with conventional manufacturing methods. The targeted design of the mesostructure, for example through lattice structures, plays a central role in exploiting the full potential of additive manufacturing.
In recent years, digital structural modeling has established itself as a key technology. It enables components to be designed virtually, their properties simulated, and then manufactured using additive manufacturing (AM) – a fast and automated workflow for the development of innovative materials.
In this seminar you will learn:
- Structure modeling in GeoDict: Creation of lattice-based structures and triple-periodic minimal surfaces (TPMS) as a design basis for additive manufacturing.
- Morphological and physical analysis: Determination of important properties such as porosity, permeability, electrical conductivity, and mechanical strength.
- Fast parameter sweep: Using a case study, we demonstrate how GeoDict can be used for rapid variation of model parameters in order to specifically investigate their influence on material properties.
This seminar is aimed at developers, engineers, and scientists who want to optimize the path from digital component development to additive manufacturing.
