Simulation of Adsorption-based Processes to Remove Contaminants
Abstract
Filtration is crucial for removing contaminants from water, air, and industrial processes, ensuring safety, health, and environmental protection. It enhances the quality of products, safeguards equipment, and reduces costs by preventing damage and inefficiencies. Additionally, filtration plays a vital role in sustainability by minimizing pollution and preserving natural resources. Simulating these processes on various scales from the filter medium to the full filter is key for next generation filtration solutions.
The break-out session starts with an in-depth overview of the newest feature of GeoDict to simulate adsorption-based processes as well as further novelties and improvements relevant to filtration applications, presented by Philipp Eichheimer from Math2Market. These novelties include simulation of adsorption using AddiDict, improvements for flow calculation employing sub-voxel resolution and new grid refinement methods taking local Reynolds numbers into account as well as various improvements in the usability especially in FilterDict.
