A Digital Framework for the Optimization of Pleat in Filter Elements

Seminar recording

Computer-aided design (CAD) is an important tool for designing filters and filter elements. However, manually modeling complex pleated structures—especially with multi-layer materials or varying numbers of pleats—is time-consuming. As a result, only a few design variants are often built and tested.

Digital simulation approaches make it possible to accelerate this process: based on CAD data, important filter properties such as pressure drop, separation efficiency, and service life can be predicted efficiently.

In this seminar you will learn:

  • From CAD model to simulation: Import an existing CAD structure of a filter, including the housing.
  • Automated pleat modeling: With the GeoDict module PleatGeo, we automatically generate a large number of cylindrical pleat structures and create different geometry variants.
  • Efficient simulations: Systematic simulations are performed to analyze pressure drop and filter performance—without any manual meshing.
  • Cloud-based computing: Simulations can be performed in parallel in the cloud, making results available faster and more efficiently.

This seminar is aimed at filter manufacturers, engineers, and developers who want to drastically reduce the design and testing effort for new filter designs through automated digital workflows.
